Tobias J. Beers

Tobias J. Beers is a decision scientist and founder of Kaizar (Amsterdam). He designs decision systems that help organizations navigate complex, high-stakes choices under uncertainty — making trade-offs explicit and assigning accountability before consequences become irreversible.

His work combines mathematical modeling, simulation, and governance design — helping leaders structure decisions before the pressure to act takes over.

Tobias holds dual MSc degrees in Data Science and Computational Science from the University of Amsterdam, with a background in cognitive neuroscience. He serves as Chair of the Works Council at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Antoni van Leeuwenhoek), and contributed to the development of the Dutch Field Standard for Bioinformatics, used in ISO 15189 accreditation for clinical diagnostics laboratories across the Netherlands.

Tobias also works as a freelance data scientist, helping businesses automate manual processes and turn their existing data into actionable insight.

He writes about AI, data science, and decision-making on Medium.
